Informational space and its architectural interpretation

Abstract

Contemporary informational and mobile technology allows transmitting vast amounts of data unprecedented until now. This data, information, and technology not only increases connectivity between place and space, but also shifts the way in which we perceive and interact with our surroundings.

The time where computers will "vanish into the background" is approaching faster than imagined. That is, before we even begin to realize, they will weave "themselves into the fabric of everyday life until they are indistinguishable from it" (Mark Weiser reference).

The aim of this paper is to examine the new and intriguing manifestations of the informational space and build upon an ongoing discussion of the extension of the tangible physicality of space with the support of the immateriality of information.
